Help!!!

Mallory has nothing to do with this question, but I can not do a post without a picture. And, my girls can not do a picture without the peace sign! Having an older sister will do that to a little one!

Serious question here ladies!!! Will screams until I pick him up. The second I pick him up he stops! THAT IS NOT COLIC!! Do you let him cry it out, and if so, how long do you let him cry before giving in and picking him up? I know he is not wet, he just ate, he just wants to be held. If this was my only child, I would hold him all day long, but I have 4 other children to take care of. What do I do???????? Will it hurt him to let him cry for a certain period of time? I know this is my 5th child, but none of my girls did this! I am lost!

Have you tried a baby carrier (ergo, baby bjorn, snugglie)? Just a thought?

My second child did this. Our Dr said its safe for them to cry up to two hours. If they cry longer than this than maybe its a tummy ache, etc. Good Luck! ;)

I would invest in a baby bjorn or a sling and just carry him around. My third did it and I could not handle the crying so I just straped her on and did everything with her attatched. She grew out of it.

I thought I was going to offer a brilliant nugget of advice, but I see Ive been beat to the point. Let me second the motion that you invest in a baby Bjorn. I have 5 and all of them LIVED in the Bjorn for the first 8 months of life. it allows baby to be snuggled right where he wants to be and gives you the "hands free' freedom to care for your girls and move on laundry and cook meals. Bjorns have great back support too! You'll LOVE your new found freedom with baby nestled in one of these!

Little boys love their Mommas!! My youngest wanted to be held all the time due to acid reflux, come to find out one of the side effects of Zantac was headaches once we stopped the meds he stopped crying all the time. Best of luck!

Have you read happiest baby on the block? If not, save your time and watch the DVD (it's on netflix). He says newborns are essentially in the fourth treated and adjusting to life outside the womb so they're looking for comfort in those similar situations. He suggests swaddling, shushing, swinging, sucking, and laying them on their sides. When my son is inconsolable these things help. I second the idea of a baby carrie. He may not have a physical need but he does need comfort. I know some say cry it out but I recently read about how taxing crying can be on little ones even leaving them hoarse. Plus I figure when I look back on my time with him, I'm not going to wish I had held him less. I have a moby wrap and really like it, but o think a bjorn would be easier for frequently getting them in and out.

GIRL. frustrating little stinker! we've let all our boys cry it out within reason. if i know they're fed and dry and it's time to sleep, they hang in their cribs! i'll often watch the clock and go in every 5-1 min the length of their nap. comforting them and then lay them back down. crying actaully helps develop their lungs so he's ok ;) hard though, huh? xoxo

ok...i just read all the above stuff, and, no offense, but i can't carry my kids around all day. they've all learned to take great naps in their cribs. it's just taken a lot of patience on my behalf. plus, your girls will know that they are still a priority when they continue to get your attention even though the baby may be crying :) i feel like i'm on facebook with all the commenting ;)

Does he arch his back? If so, he may have reflux and you have probably covered that before now, but I can't remember. Our reflux babies spent a lot of time in the swing, bouncy seat with vibration, and their infant car seats. Those things helped. You know how much crying you can handle and when you need a break:)

i would recommend a sling/bjorn as others have or give the bouncy seat (vibrating) at try. My 2nd just hung out in the sling all day and it was great. I could spend time with the 1st, and the 2nd was comforted!
Good luck!

Hi! I'm over from Sophieshope, I only have 3 kids but My 3rd loved the Maya sling, It stopped her from crying and did a lot of the same things as you described with your little sweet will, but I would give that a try! Hope that helps!

Baby Wise...It works!Crying is harder on you than him.Hold him as often as you can, but he needs to learn self soothing.Hang in there!Miss ya!

My youngest son did the same thing! He just wanted to be held, but like you I had other kids (3) to look after! Try cuddling him for a little while and then lay him down, letting him cry a few minutes longer each time before you comfort him. It may take a few days, but he will get used to it. I know how hard it is to let him cry, but for your own sanity, give it a try. Good luck!

My DD who is 3 months old did this too, my first DD did not. I found that is she was snuggled up she felt more comfortable. I tried the baby carrier and it just felt awkward. So I would either put her in her travel swing, or honestly put her in her car seat, as it is very snuggly with the inserts in it. She has mostly out grown this, but still likes to sleep in the careseat from time to time. :D LOL!! Good luck.

I think the worse thing is to let a baby cry! Baby Wise has no science/medical expereince to back it up - its very controversial. If your doctor suggests "crying it out" find another one. Frankly all babies are diffent no matter how many you have. I think a carrier would be the first thing to try. If this doesn't work, maybe its physical and you need a doctor who is willing to seek it out. Good luck and I will send positive thoughts your way!

That was my daughter- she had (and still has at ONE!!) the H-E-L-D disease as my mama puts it!!! I would let her cry it out in her swing for a little bit just so I could get some things done...but ultimately, I carried her around in a baby carrier...but alas, I have one child to your 5!!! Good luck!!
